This painting interprets the phrase “You are what you eat” through the lens of pop surrealism, blending absurdity with symbolic depth. The portrait is partially made up of food: eggs, noodles, shrimp, vegetables, and bacon - blurring the boundaries between the human and what is consumed. The work became a personal turning point, marking the beginning of a new chapter after a long depression.
The creative process was therapeutic, reigniting the artist’s desire to create and helping to rediscover the meaning of art in her own life. The vivid color palette and bizarre harmony of elements invite the viewer to look inward and reflect on identity, habits, and hidden emotional layers.
Perhaps what each of us is missing is just a spoonful of sweet cat-jam to make life feel a little softer.

Kristina’s fascination with unusual food and the “humanization” of edible objects has long been present in her digital illustrations. Following a personal crisis, she made the decision not to abandon her earlier digital ideas and concepts.
Instead, she chose to revisit and reimagine them on canvas - merging and refining these images into a cohesive artistic vision.
